We’re attending couples or family therapy, who is listed as the client?
For couples or family therapy, only individuals who attend the session can be named on the receipt. All participants who were present will be listed in the session description for transparency and, in many cases, to satisfy insurance requirements.
However, only one person can be identified as the “primary client” on the receipt for billing purposes, typically the person who will submit the receipt to insurance or claim the expense on their taxes.
Example receipt wording:
“Couple’s Psychotherapy session provided to Jane Smith (client) and John Smith (partner).”
